Your Time Is Worth More Than the Drive to Tewksbury.
Drop-off works great when you live or work close to our Tewksbury facility and have a smaller volume to bring. Off-site pickup is the right call when one or more of these things is true.
You have too many boxes to fit in your vehicle. A typical 12 by 15 inch banker’s box weighs 25 to 30 pounds. Most car trunks max out at 8 to 12 boxes. Our trucks easily handle 100+ boxes per pickup. If you are sitting on more than a trunkload of paper, off-site pickup costs less than the time and gas you would burn on multiple drop-off trips.
You bill your time at more than $50 per hour. The round trip from downtown Boston to Tewksbury runs 2 to 3 hours including loading and weighing. For an attorney, accountant, financial advisor or executive, that is real billable time disappearing. Off-site pickup turns the same destruction event into a 30-minute interruption at your office while our crew handles transport.
You operate from a multi-floor building or high-rise. Carrying boxes down stairs to the parking garage in downtown Boston, Cambridge or Waltham is its own production. Our crew arrives with hand trucks, knows how to navigate elevators and security checkpoints, and handles the physical lift while you do other work.
You are closing an office, moving locations, retiring a practice or processing an estate. Bulk destruction events ranging from 30 to 200 boxes happen all the time across metro Boston. Off-site pickup runs a single coordinated event with documented destruction at end. We handle multi-day projects for offices winding down.
You need privacy that drop-off cannot provide. Sensitive matters, sealed records, attorney-client materials, executive correspondence and similar high-confidentiality paper benefits from a sealed-bin pickup that travels under chain of custody from your office to our shredder. Our drivers are background-screened and uniformed. The boxes never leave our chain of custody between your door and our cutter.
Five Steps From Your Calendar to Your Compliance File.
From first call to final Certificate, the typical off-site pickup process takes 2 to 5 business days. Same-day service available for urgent destruction with confirmed availability before noon.
Quote Request
Phone call or web form. We confirm pickup address, estimated volume, accessibility (ground floor or elevator) and any compliance requirements like HIPAA. Quote sent within hours, often same day.
Pickup Scheduled
We propose a date and time window from our route schedule. Most metro Boston cities have route runs at least twice per week, with daily availability for Tewksbury, Wilmington, Andover, Lowell and Burlington. You confirm.
Crew Arrives and Loads
Two-person uniformed crew with hand trucks, ID badges and a sign-in sheet. We move boxes from your specified pickup point to our locked truck. Typical load time 15 to 45 minutes depending on volume.
Transport and Destroy
Boxes ride under chain of custody to our Tewksbury facility. Cross-cut industrial shredders process the load. Destruction documented with weight, time, operator and method (NIST 800-88 cross-cut to unreadable particles).
Certificate Issued
Certificate of Destruction emailed within 24 hours of destruction event with date, location, weight destroyed, destruction method and unique reference number. Hard copy mailed on request. Filed in our system for any future audit lookups.
100% Recycled
Shredded paper rides to a certified recycling facility within 48 hours. Zero landfill. Sustainability documentation available on request for ESG, B-Corp or environmental compliance reporting.
Transparent Pickup Pricing.
Off-site pickup uses the same per-pound and per-box rates as drop-off, with two added line items: the transportation fee that covers truck, fuel, crew and chain of custody, plus the standard compliance fees that apply to every job.
Access disclaimer: Off-site pickup pricing assumes ground-level or elevator access. Additional handling fee applies for stairs or non-standard access (above 1st floor without elevator, basements, restricted entry). Discounted rates available on large purge jobs, contact us for a custom quote.
Three example pickup totals to set expectations.
Office cleanout, 8 banker’s boxes, downtown Boston: 8 boxes ~25 lbs each = 200 lbs at $0.99 = $198 + $129+ transport + $34.90 fees = $360.85 total.
Estate executor, 25 boxes, Andover: 25 boxes at $20 = $500 (banker’s box rate kicks in at 10+) + $129+ transport + $34.90 fees = $662.85 total.
Practice closure, 60 boxes, Lowell: 60 boxes at $20 = $1,200 + transport (mileage adjusted) approximately $145 + $34.90 fees = approximately $1,378 total.
For repeat clients with monthly or quarterly pickup, our Scheduled Service Plan bundles transportation into a flat monthly contract that often runs 25 to 40 percent below per-event pricing.

Documentation That Holds Up Under Audit.
The Certificate of Destruction we produce after each pickup satisfies the disposal documentation requirement under every regulatory framework metro Boston businesses face.
HIPAA: For medical practices, billing services, behavioral health providers and other covered entities, we sign a Business Associate Agreement before the first pickup. The BAA pairs with the Certificate of Destruction to satisfy HIPAA Privacy Rule disposal requirements. See our HIPAA shredding pillar for medical practice context.
FACTA Disposal Rule: The FTC’s “reasonable measures” standard during disposal of consumer information is met by cross-cut industrial shredding to NIST 800-88 standards. Certificate documents the disposal event for FTC and state Attorney General inquiries.
GLBA Safeguards Rule: Financial institutions broadly defined including tax preparers, financial advisors, mortgage brokers and real estate brokers handling closings need documented disposal of customer financial information. Certificate satisfies the GLBA disposal documentation requirement.
Massachusetts 201 CMR 17.00: The state’s data security regulation requires documented disposal practices in any covered entity’s Written Information Security Program. Certificate becomes part of your WISP file.
SEC Rule 17a-4: Broker-dealers and other SEC-regulated firms destroying records at end of retention need destruction documentation in their Written Supervisory Procedures. Certificate provides the documentation.

Three Common Pickup Scenarios We Run Weekly.
The Office Cleanout
Law firm, accounting practice or financial advisory office pulls 10 to 25 boxes of closed-matter files past their retention window. We schedule pickup outside of client meeting hours, load while staff continues working, transport and destroy the same day. Certificate emailed within 24 hours filed by matter number for the firm’s records.
The Estate Liquidation
Family executor closing a parent’s home with decades of paper records. Volume often runs 30 to 80 boxes including tax records, medical files, financial statements, insurance documents and personal correspondence. Pickup at the estate property handles loading without forcing the executor to transport multiple loads to Tewksbury. Certificate names the estate and any matter number.
The Practice Closure
Retiring physician, dentist or other healthcare provider closing a practice. Volume typically 50 to 200 boxes accumulated over decades. We coordinate multi-truck pickup over one or two days, work around staff transition timeline and provide HIPAA-compliant chain of custody throughout. Final Certificate becomes part of the closure documentation the provider keeps as personal protection against future records inquiries.
Off-Site, Drop-Off or Scheduled. Which Fits Your Volume.
Most metro Boston clients fit cleanly into one of three service plans. Picking the right plan saves real money over the year. Here is the decision tree we walk through with new clients.
Choose Off-Site Pickup When
You have more than 10 boxes to destroy. You bill your time at high rates and the trip to Tewksbury is not worth your hours. The pickup is a one-time event (office cleanout, estate, practice closure). You need destruction at a specific time tied to a closing date or audit deadline. You want a uniformed crew handling chain of custody from your door rather than dropping anonymous boxes at a counter.
Choose Drop-Off Instead When
You have fewer than 10 boxes. You live or work close to Tewksbury (Wilmington, Andover, Lowell, Burlington). Your time-cost of the drive is lower than $130. You want the option of watching destruction happen. Drop-off avoids the transportation fee entirely so for small jobs the math works out cheaper. See drop-off pillar for details.
Choose Scheduled Service When
You have ongoing volume that justifies a recurring pickup. Office producing 1+ boxes weekly. Medical practice with consistent patient record turnover. Multi-site business needing unified compliance documentation. The flat monthly contract bundles transportation into the rate which usually saves 25 to 40 percent versus per-event pricing once volume scales. See scheduled plan pricing.
What You Do Before We Arrive.
Pickup runs faster when boxes are ready. Here is the simple prep list we send to every new client.
Stage Boxes Before Crew Arrives
Move boxes to the location our crew will load from. Loading dock for office buildings. Garage or front entry for residential. Reception area for ground-floor offices. Letting our crew know where to go saves time on arrival.
Confirm Building Access
If the building requires sign-in at security, advance notice to your front desk smooths the entry. For high-rise downtown Boston buildings with COI requirements, share the certificate of insurance from us a day in advance so it is on file when our crew arrives.
No Preparation of Paper Required
Skip removing staples, paper clips, rubber bands, file folders, hanging file dividers, three-ring binders or anything similar. Our industrial cutters handle all of it. Skip alphabetizing, sorting or pre-shredding. Boxes load as they are.
Tell Us About Non-Paper Items
If your boxes contain CDs, DVDs, hard drives, USB drives, backup tapes or other non-paper media, mention this when scheduling so we quote correctly. Media destruction runs through a separate process and is priced per unit. We can handle paper and media in the same pickup with combined documentation.
Have Payment Method Ready
For new clients, payment is due at pickup. Repeat business clients with established accounts pay net 15 by invoice. Tell us at quote stage which method you prefer.

Same Crew, Same Trucks, Same Standards Every Time.
National shredding chains subcontract pickup to whatever local franchise covers your zip code. The crew at your door this month may not be the crew next month. The Certificate format may differ between regions. The chain of custody varies with the franchise.
MyPaperShredding is family-run from our Tewksbury hub. The same crew that handles your first pickup handles your hundredth. The same Certificate template comes off the same printer every time. Chain of custody runs through one company end-to-end with no subcontract handoffs. For metro Boston clients with continuing destruction needs across multiple sites or matters, that consistency is a real asset when audit time comes.
Our trucks run regular routes through Boston, Cambridge, Newton, Waltham, Watertown, Lexington, Burlington, Wilmington, Andover, Lowell, Tewksbury, Billerica, Methuen, Lawrence, Haverhill and Fitchburg. Drivers know the loading docks, the security desks, the alley access points and the elevator restrictions in every major commercial building in our service area. That local knowledge translates to faster pickups and fewer surprises on pickup day.
Schedule Your Pickup This Week.
Quote within hours, pickup confirmed within 24 hours, destruction same day, Certificate within 24 hours of destruction. Same documentation across all 14 metro Boston cities.
